SLAM Festival a Success
SLAM Festival a Success
On September 18, the much anticipated SLAM Festival came to fruition; the Shawnigan Lake Business Association took part by sponsoring a table along with an activity.
Our objectives were two fold...
- From a local business perspective we were hoping to increase the overall awareness of what Shawnigan Lake has to offer; We accomplished this by handing out numerous Maps along with targeted membership information. (Thank you to those who took the time and dropped off your pamphlets, samples and business cards). The power of positive networking was evident.
- From a community perspective, it was our hope to present an activity that would be engaging and interactive to a variety of ages; Seeing that the Hand-Ball Game was in constant use, I think our objectives were met.
Thank you to Kali Yoga, Wildflower Music Studio, Moon Dance Dynamic Art Studio, Esthetics by Lois, Signology, Body and Soul Esthetics, Peoples Pharmacy, Red Cedar Massage Therapy, and Reflexology by Francois Autti for their generous donations. From the reactions of the winners, as well as the number of people who entered our draws, these were a big success.
As a member of both the SLBA and of our community, I was proud to be part of the SLAM Festival. The whole afternoon was filled with respect, positive energy and a greater sense of community.
Last but not least, Thank you to Trina Burns, Heather Plumb, Anne Hunter, Roy Davies, Marianne Davies and Chris Clay for volunteering their time, and energy. This day would not have been the same without you.
Sincerely,
Daniela Kym
